Katy's Principles and Approaches. As a Clinical Psychologist operating within the principles of interconnectedness and mind-body wholism, Katy uses evidence-based interventions including mindfulness-based and somatic therapies among others, within the container of the therapeutic relationship, to assist you with your desired outcomes. She works within a non-judgemental framework, informed by attachment theory, developmental theory, polyvagal theory, mindfulness and neuroscience, inviting you into curiosity and kindness for yourself, as well as full self-responsibility to empower you towards creating your desired life. The Therapeutic Relationship. Because many of the issues we struggle with have their roots in the ways we are wounded in relationships, we often need a therapeutic relationship as a part of our healing journey. Sometimes our issues are relatively simple (but still very important) and only brief therapy is needed. Sometimes our issues are complex and longstanding, and longer term therapy is needed, especially if it takes us a very long time to trust others. Background & Offerings. With an extensive background in Clinical Psychology, Mindfulness, Sensorimotor Processing Psychotherapy, Hakomi Mindfulness Based Somatic Psychotherapy, Hakomi Advanced Relationships Training, EMDR, and more than 14 years experience in confidential face to face sessions and group programs and volunteer care, Katy is now offering individual therapy on the Gold Coast for adults who are ready to commit to their healing journey. |
